Experience:
Shysta practices Civil and Immigration law. Whilst working as a Generalist Adviser for the Citizens Advice Bureau, she gained experience in housing, employment, benefit, debt, DLA, immigration and family cases, as well as presenting cases to the tribunal. Shysta has been certified under the National Association of CAB (NACAB). She was awarded a University Prize at Undergraduate level and received the 'Mentee of the Year' award. During the BVC she was awarded the Sir Thomas BVC Scholarship by Lincoln's Inn and was also a finalist in the UK Asian Young Achievers. In addition to this, she has gained a Distinction in a Diploma in Advice Work & Law and in Islamic & Cultural Studies & Urdu.
Shysta speaks Punjabi and Urdu and is a member of the Association of Muslim Lawyers. Shysta can translate documents from Urdu and Punjabi into English and is happy to conduct interviews in these languages.
Immigration practice:
Shysta accepts instructions in Immigration (Entry Clearance). She has appeared before the AIT on numerous occasions and has experience of immigration appeals, including spouse visas, vistor visas, work permits and highly skilled migrant appeals. She is a Pro Bono Barrister for Immigration advice and representation at Bury Law Centre. Shysta is a member of the Immigration Law & Practitioners Association (ILPA) and the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (JCWI).
