Civil practice:
Caroline has an exclusively civil practice, the majority being personal injury claims, representing both claimants and defendants. She aims to provide a professional and approachable service focused on the needs of those instructing her and their clients. She can provide urgent turnaround of work, by arrangement, and is pleased to discuss cases informally over the telephone. She accepts CFA instructions where appropriate.
Personal Injury Experience
Caroline is experienced in;
Occupiers liability, Employers liability, Highways Act claims and Road traffic collisions, including MIB claims and accidents abroad.
Caroline advises on insurance issues arising from road traffic accidents involving Article 75/MIB, uninsured and untraced drivers/RTA insurer and Direct Action claims. She is also interested in claims arising out of road traffic accidents abroad and recently advised in respect of a road traffic accident occuring in France, involving Engliush Claimants, which was issued in England.
Caroline is expanding her personal injury practice into clinical negligence. She recently represented a private hospital, which had been joined as second defendant, in a claim involving an allegedly negligent gastric band operation. The Claimant discontinued proceedings, as against the second defendant, following representations in the circumstances of the case. As a consequence the District Judge gave directions as between Claimant and first defendant only and the Claimant discontinued her claim against the second defendant hospital shortly thereafter.
Caroline has experience of CICA hearings and is currentky representing an appellant who was seriously brain damaged following an assault.
Caroline provides written advices on liability, causation and quantum, tactics and procedure as well as drafting pleadings, schedules of loss and applications.
She provides representation at court at interlocutory hearings, such as applications to set aside judgement, applications for pre action disclosure, case management conferences and also final hearings.
