Following qualification as a solicitor in 1985, George Brown worked in private practises around the Manchester area until 1994 when he moved into the not-for-profit sector, specialising in Immigration Law. He was a senior solicitor and Director of Greater Manchester Immigration Aid Unit where he provided and facilitated training for a number of organisations.

George's specialist work involves asylum, immigration and nationality, ranging from first instance adjudication level right up to Court of Appeal.
