Experience:
Alison Mather was called to the Bar in 1997 and gained further experience with a High Street firm of Solicitors before joining Chambers in 2000. Alison practices in Criminal Law, Employment Law and Inquests. She is considered to be a commited, hardworking approachable person, who enjoys the challenges that life at the Bar undoubtedly entails.

Criminal practice:
Alison has extensive experience in Crown Court advocacy at all levels and has made several Court of Appeal appearances. She undertakes both prosecuting and defending and has experience in matters of violent crime, serious assaults, sexual offences and drug related offences (including importation). She has a particular interest in representing young and vulnerable defendants and those with mental health issues.

Inquest practice:
Alison, over recent years has developed a comprehensive knowledge and experience of proceedings before the Coroners Court. She has represented the interests of both families and employed personnel who find themselves involved in the process. She has a particular interest in inquests concerning deaths which occur whilst the deceased was in the care of the state. She brings with her to this forum, the skills gained in her criminal practice; in particular her experience as a jury advocate over many years. She has the ability to deal with people who find themselves in what are often challenging and emotional circumstances, in an intelligent level headed yet compasionate manner.
